Mempercepat koneksi internet

Untuk yang suka berinternet ria dengan menggunakan koneksi dan PC pribadi haruslah memperhatikan beberapa hal, resiko yang dihadapi berbeda dengan menggunakan koneksi dan PC di sebuah Cafe atau warnet, dalam hal ini yaitu adanya data-data penting pribadi dalam PC yang digunakan.



Untuk men-share sebuah folder di komputer ke jaringan, klik kanan folder tersebut dan pilih Properties. Klik tab Sharing dan enable option Share this folder on the network. Beri nama dan klik OK.



Buat sebuah icon My Network Places di desktop dengan mengklik kanan area kosong di dekstop dan klik Properties. Pilih tab Desktop | Customize Desktop. Kemudian buka tab General dan enable option My Network Places.



Terdapat cara mudah mengirim pesan ke komputer lain di jaringan, yakni menggunakan Console Message. Buka Control Panel -> Administrative Tools -> Computer Management -> Action -> All Task -> Send Console Message. Ketik teks yang hendak dikirim, tambahkan nama komputer yang hendak dituju dan klik Send.



Untuk mengatur Internet Connection Firewall (ICF) , buka Network Connection di Control Panel, klik kanan koneksi yang ada dan klik Properties . Buka tab Advanced dan enable option Protect my computer and network by limitting or preventing access to this computer from Internet.



Atur Internet Connection Firewall (ICF) untuk setiap koneksi yang ada. Baik dial-up maupun broadband. Jika komputer merupakan bagian dari jaringan yang terhubung ke Internet, pasang ICF hanya di komputer server.



Untuk mengetahui alamat IP, masuk dalam DOS dengan mengetikkan command di Run. Kemudian ketikkan ipconfig / all.

Jika menerima pesan dari Internet melalui Messenger, segera matikan. Caranya, masuk ke Contol Panel -> Administrative Tools -> Services, dan klik ganda Messenger kemudian Stop. Untuk mencegah supaya tidak terulang, atur Messenger menjadi Disabled di bagian Startup.



Matikan Windows Messenger dengan melalui regedit. Buka HKEY _LOCAL_MACHINESoftwarePoliciesMicrosoft, kemudian pilih menu Edit -> New -> Key, dan beri nama Messenger. Kemudian buat key lagi dengan cara ini di dalam direktori Messenger dengan nama key-nya Client. Setelah itu, klik menu Edit -> New -> DWORD Value, dan beri nama PreventRun. Klik kanan value PreventRun, pilih Modify, isi angka 1 pada Value data, dan klik OK.



Untuk mengetahui informasi mengenai koneksi di komputer, klik Start -> All Prqgrams -> Accessories -> System Tools -> System Information. Pilih menu Tools -> Net Diagnotics. Pada window yang terbuka kemudian pilih option Scan your system. Tunggu hingga proses selesai untuk melihat hasilnya.



Lindungi privasi dengan mencegah aplikasi Windows Media Player mengirim data mengenai komputer dan kebiasaan menggunakan komputer melalui Internet ke alamat-alamat tertentu. Caranya mudah, pada Windows Media Player, pilih menu Tools -> Option. Buka tab Player dan disable option Aloww internet sites to uniquely your player.



Untuk mengunci komputer yang berada dalam sebuah network domain, tekan tombol Ctrl + Alt + Del bersamaan dan klik option Lock Computer. Untuk membuka kembali, tekan tombol Ctrl + Alt + Del dan masukkan password.

Menginstal windows XP dari USB

Pembaca, saat ini, keberadaan laptop mungil tengah menawan hati sebagian besar pengguna komputer jinjing. Bagaimana tidak? Walaupun terkadang spesifikasi sebuah subnotebook tidak semumpuni notebook-notebook berukuran lebih besar, ukurannya yang mini dan kemampuannya yang dapat mengakomodasi kebutuhan berkomputer sehari-hari menjadikan subnotebook sebagai salah satu gadget yang sangat diminati, disamping harganya yang lebih terjangkau, tentu saja.

Langkah-langkah Pembuatan:

1. Tancapkan USB flash disk ke salah satu port USB. Ingat-ingat posisi drive-nya. Apakah F:, G:, H:, dan sebagainya.

2. Saat Anda berada di posisi normal (desktop), masukkan CD instalasi Windows XP ke optical drive. Jika komputer menjalankan proses instalasi secara otomatis, batalkan saja dan tutup semua aplikasi yang tengah berjalan.

3. Unduh dan ekstrak aplikasi yang penulis berikan. Saran penulis, ekstrak seluruh isinya ke sebuah folder, semisal C:USB.

4. Selanjutnya, buka folder di mana Anda mengekstrak aplikasi modul pembuat instalasi, kali ini kita ambil contoh C:USB.

5. Jalankan file bernama "usb_prep8.bat" maka di layar monitor akan tampak jendela Command Prompt berisi macam-macam perintah. Jika sudah muncul tulisan "Press any key to continue," tekan sembarang tombol untuk konfirmasi.

6. Di layar akan muncul jendela PEtoUSB yang meminta Anda memformat USB flash disk Anda. Tak perlu mengubah setting apa pun, langsung klik Start untuk mulai proses format. Jawab konfirmasi sesuai kebutuhan Anda.

7. Jika sudah selesai, tutup jendela PEtoUSB (jangan menutup jendela Command Prompt yang tadi terbuka ketika Anda menjalankan usb_prep8.bat), maka di layar akan muncul opsi-opsi dari 0 hingga 5.

8. Gunakan opsi 1 untuk memilih sumber file instalasi yang nantinya akan disalin ke flash disk. Disini, tentukan di drive mana Anda menyimpan instalasi Windows XP. Pilih saja optical drive di mana sudah ada CD Windows XP di dalamnya, atau pilih folder pilihan Anda jika Anda telah menyalin file instalasi Windows XP ke folder tertentu.

9. Pilih opsi 3 untuk menentukan di mana Anda mencolok flash disk. Kalau flash disk Anda berada di drive F:, maka ketik F dan tekan ENTER. Jika drive G: maka ketik G dan tekan ENTER, begitu seterusnya berlaku untuk drive lain.

10. Selanjutnya pilih opsi 4 untuk mulai proses pembuatan modul instalasi yang nantinya akan disalin ke flash disk secara otomatis. Jawab apa pun konfirmasi yang muncul dengan Y atau YES atau OK atau bentuk persetujuan lain.

Selesai! Kini flash disk Anda telah siap digunakan untuk instalasi Windows XP! Silahkan melakukan setting pada BIOS subnotebook Anda, dan pilih Removeable Disk (atau apa pun nama lainnya) sebagai media pertama yang dijalankan saat booting.

Mengingat teknik instalasi semacam ini juga tersedia di internet, Anda juga bisa mencarinya via mesin cari. Selamat mencoba...!

Installation:

1. Burn or mount the Application ISO using one of the many ISO utilities
2. Install the Application
3. DO NOT let the application run at the end of the install.
4. copy the Rosetta Stone v3.2 - Patch.exe to the install folder and run it
5. click the PATCH button and exit the progam
6. Burn or mount one of the language ISO files
7. Run the Rosetta Stone Application
8. The application will ask to update, don't allow it to update, there isn't a working patch for 3.3.5, when it goes out I'll add it to the post.
9. The application will ask to install a language
10. It should search and find the language disk or mounted ISO
11. continue for all languages and levels you wants installed.
12. when finished the software will ask to update the languages. Its ok to allow it to update.

The language packs: Japanese_1.iso, Japanese_2.iso, Japanese_3.iso
